I read a post a few days ago that a PT posted looking for PT’s in the area. The post went on to talk about how PT’s needed to lead by example and that they needed to have a particular look about them. That look being toned, having a great body and overall just looking the part that eventually the client wanted to look like. This actually played on my mind a little. So last night, I emailed my trainer who is also my boss and explained the post. The more I wrote about it the more I thought what the hell is that guy on about and the more I thought, what a false and incorrect statement that guy had made.
I don’t agree that every PT has to be toned and have the perfect body because classifying a ‘perfect body’ to begin with is just wrong to me. Everyones perfect body is something different. Can the perfect body be toned and buff? Absolutely!! Can the perfect body be one that you have worked your ass off for but still has a little more work to go? Of course, I’m living proof of that.
Maybe someone’s perfect isn’t about their body? Maybe its about feeling happy all the time, liking their smile, not being moody, not being so shy, being confident, the shape of their face, just to name a few. I know my smile is something that has changed, as has my confidence.
Am I perfect? No. Do I train hard, eat well and have a passion to be able to help others train and feel as amazing as I do? Yes. Do I have a journey? Yes. Do I share that journey to inspire others? Yes.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that you can be anything you want to be an no one can stop you from doing so. That guy made a huge statement advertising the way he did and I am lucky enough to work for someone who accepts me for who I am and the journey I have had, and she tells me all the time. If I haven’t have had the journey I have had, I wouldn’t be half the trainer I am today.
If someone had asked me 2 years ago would I be a qualified fitness instructor, studying to be a PT, I probably would have laughed….but here I am, living proof, that you can be anything you want to be, you just have to want it bad enough.
So tonight, I will stand in front on my circuit class and be proud of my journey, and remember why I make a good trainer for different reasons to be toned and muscular. Because I’m passionate about my clients and helping them to achieve amazing results that way my trainer helped me.
That’s all from me, have a beautiful day….
P.s Here’s my most recent before and after…check out the smile…
