In a matter of 9 months, Tiffani has lost a total of 80.5cm from around her body with 29cm being from her waist alone. When she first joined TF, she was a very shy and quiet young lady, very cautious about getting into the training too hard. Today she is a machine that tackles each and every exercise as though her life depends on it. The strength she has developed and the amazing energy she has unleashed is incredible! I am so super proud of the person she has unleashed and continues to unleash. She is an amazing inspiration to so many young women out there in society today, with their incredible insecurities. Tiffani is a credit to hard work and dedication; a commitment to herself to be the best she can, and feel better about herself. It’s not about the weight, it’s about her self-esteem and self-confidence. Here is what Tiffani has to say about her journey:
“Before I started training I had no self-esteem what-so-ever. I played netball at competitive level but had such bad eating habits that it outweighed the work I was doing at netball. Being only 17 years old self-esteem is already an issue for healthy teenagers, so by me mistreating my body it just brought me down even more. I hated what I saw in the mirror and I would compare myself to everyone around me. I would use Year 12 as an excuse a lot to put off doing any extra exercise and would sometimes not attend netball training because I would tell myself that I had too much homework – even though I very well knew that I could fit it all in. I was nowhere near as fit as I am today, my strength was at absolute zero. I would have been lucky enough to do 1 push up on my knees, let alone any on the floor like I can now do today.
After netball season had finished, I was no longer eligible to play in my age group as I was turning 18 in March of the next year. I knew that I had to do something, because I could see that I was already getting bigger even whilst playing netball. I was never into going to the gym because people could be so judgmental. I needed someone who could relate to my struggles and a more personal relationship with a proper certified trainer.
Most of my family were already training at Terrific Fitness and they had been getting great results so I decided to give it a shot to see if it would suit me and keep me motivated. Especially after hearing Terri’s story in the video for new-comers I knew I had made the right decision, I could tell that she was someone who never gives up on anyone and I needed that.
In the beginning I was quite shy and timid. I would put in effort every time I trained, but it wasn’t until I was measured after my first round that I realised I could do so much better. I lost just over 50cm combined after my first round and seeing that result just gave me the extra push to knuckle down and become even more determined.
I dramatically changed my eating habits. After attending Terri’s nutrition workshop it really opened my eyes to everything I was doing wrong and I finally understood why you could not out-exercise a bad diet! I was completely oblivious to the fact that fat was good for you. I used to eat things that were high in sugar – dessert was my weakness, and I used to eat a lot of overly processed foods. I cut down on all of the bad foods I was eating and started to follow Terri’s nutrition guide that I was given at the workshop. Now I maintain a high fat and low carb/sugar diet and stay away from overly processed foods.
I have been training with Terrific Fitness for almost 9 months now. I started off doing 2 nights of circuit class and have slowly kept progressing. I now do 2 circuit classes and 1 boxing class and next round I will be doing 2 boxing classes and 1 upper body class. Boxing has really brought out the fight in me and I love getting absolutely smashed on Friday nights!
I am so much more fit, strong and confident in who I am. I eat much more healthily and exercise 5 times a week. I have discovered just how determined I can be when I put my mind to something. I still do and always will struggle with my self-esteem, but it grows each and every day as I become more confident with myself and my body. I love who I am in the process of becoming and it’s a journey that will never end.
I am slowly becoming more happy each day with who I am. I am learning to love my body and be proud of every inch of it. I still have a long way to go but it’s the journey and transformation I really look forward to.
[What gets you off the couch?] The whole Terrific Fitness team. I have become so determined and focused on my goals that it is never a question of whether I will or not go to training. I love training and feel so great afterwards. All of the trainers and members are so lovely as well, there’s always an abundant amount of friendly faces around and there is 100% no judgment from anybody. Everybody is there for similar reasons and we all understand each other.
110% would recommend people join Terrific Fitness. The trainers are amazing and supportive and they really know there stuff, the members are lovely and it’s an environment you won’t find anywhere else. I feel at home every time I train with the Terrific Fitness community. Also do not make excuses to not do things. I used to do that so much, but it does nothing for you it only makes things harder. Taking the first step is always the hardest but there is nothing you can’t do, everything is possible!” – Tiffani Meier
